커털린 커리코

커리코 커털린(헝가리어: Karikó Katalin [ˈkɒrikoː ˌkɒtɒlin][*], 1955년 1월 17일~)은 RNA 매개 매커니즘을 전문으로 하는 헝가리의 생화학자이다. 단백질 치료를 위한 시험관 내 mRNA 연구를 주력으로 하였다. 커리코는 바이오 기업인 바이온텍(BioNTech)의 수석부사장이기도 하다.

Katalin "Kati" Karikó is a Hungarian and American biochemist who specializes in ribonucleic acid (RNA)-mediated mechanisms, particularly in vitro-transcribed messenger RNA (mRNA) for protein replacement therapy. Karikó laid the scientific groundwork for mRNA vaccines, overcoming major obstacles and skepticism in the scientific community. Karikó received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2023 for her work, along with American immunologist Drew Weissman.
