에리히 푀겔린

소개

에리히 헤르만 빌헬름 푀겔린(Erich Hermann Wilhelm Vögelin, 1901-1985)는 독일계 미국인 정치 철학자이다. 쾰른에서 태어나 비엔나 대학교에서 정치학을 전공했으며 정치학 부교수가 되었다. 1938년에 그와 그의 아내는 오스트리아 빈에 침입한 나치독일 군대로부터 도망쳤다. 그들은 미국으로 이주하여 1944년에 시민권을 얻었다. 루이지애나 주립 대학, 뮌헨 대학 및 스탠포드 대학 후버 연구소에서 대부분의 학업 경력을 보냈다.

Eric Voegelin was a German-American political philosopher. He was born in Cologne, and educated in political science at the University of Vienna, where he became an associate professor of political science in the law faculty. In 1938, he and his wife fled from the Nazi forces which had entered Vienna. They emigrated to the United States, where they became citizens in 1944. He spent most of his academic career at Louisiana State University, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, and the Hoover Institution of Stanford University.
